Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 June 2026

Find My Pants helps you keep a photo inventory of what's packed in your boxes, bins, and shelves. This policy explains what we collect, where it's processed, and the choices you have. The short version: no ads, no tracking, and we never sell your inventory.

Who we are

Find My Pants is an iOS app and accompanying service operated as an independent project ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, contact us at [email protected].

We are the data controller for the personal data you provide through the app. Our servers are hosted in Norway, within the European Economic Area (EEA), and we process personal data in line with the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What we collect

Account information

If you choose to use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with the identifiers needed to create your account in accordance with Apple's policy. We do not receive your Apple password.

Technical data

What we don't collect. We do not collect your location, your contacts, or the advertising ID used to track you across apps. The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and Apple's privacy report for the app confirms we don't track you.

Camera & photo access

The app asks for permission to use your camera so you can scan QR codes and photograph items, and optionally for access to your photo library if you'd rather pick an existing photo. These permissions are used only for the features you trigger. You can change them at any time in iOS Settings → Find My Pants.

How your photos are processed

Find My Pants uses a mix of on-device and server processing:

Your photos and inventory are uploaded to and stored on our server so they stay in sync across your devices and with other members of your household.

How we use your data

We do not use your photos or inventory for advertising, and we do not sell your data.

Who can see your data

We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.

Data security

Information sent between the app and our server travels over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS — the same kind of connection your bank uses). Passwords are stored only in a scrambled form, and your sign-in token is kept safely on your device. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

International data transfers

All of our servers and data storage are located in Norway, within the European Economic Area (EEA). We do not host, store, or transfer your personal data outside the EEA.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual items, boxes, and places from within the app at any time.

You can delete your entire account directly in the app under Profile → Delete Account, or by contacting us at [email protected]. Deleting your account permanently erases your account details and everything you added — including any households you own (and all of their contents) and items you created in households shared with others, even items you assigned to another person. This cannot be undone.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

Your rights

Under the GDPR (and similar laws elsewhere) you have the right to access, correct, export (data portability), and delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time limits set by the GDPR.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Norway this is the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Children

Find My Pants is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
